The Mohawk Valley Construction Industry Career Day, sponsored by the Mohawk Valley Construction Industry Development Committee (MVCID), will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This year’s Career Day will once again be held at the Oneida County Department of Public Works Building, 6000 Airport Road, Oriskany, NY.
This is an exciting opportunity for high school students (9-12 grade) to explore and experience the diverse careers available in the construction industry. This year’s event will include interactive exhibits, trade industry displays and demonstration projects all requiring student involvement. The days’ activities will include the opportunity to operate heavy equipment and witnessing skilled trades people demonstrating various crafts such as bricklaying, concrete finishing, roofing, painting/finishes, welding, plumbing, electrical installation, materials testing and pipe laying. Every year, 400+ students attend this event.
“Construction Career Day is a great way to let the next generation know about the many opportunities available to them in the field. The jobs are plentiful, the salaries are above average, and there are many careers that will pay you while you train. A job in the construction industry is an option worth exploring.” ~ Tracy Page, Executive Director, Mohawk Valley Builders Exchange. Technology-based construction careers will also be represented.
